Description
BirdPay Reader implements, at participating establishments, pay-at-table Apple Pay.
BirdPay allows customers to pay merchants with Apple Pay without using payment pads or requiring modification of the point of sale terminal. Thus, payment can occur at a customer's table or any surface holding an NFC sticker.
The system, independent of the cash register, reads the bill as it passes through the receipt printer. The user of the app can then tap, at a participating establishment, their table's NFC sticker or placard to see their bill and pay with Apple Pay. The server does not need to flagged down to check out.
Once the bill is paid, the receipt printer prints a summary for the merchant.
Split bills are shown to the user visually in order to allow selection of a specific bill when there are multiple bills at one table.
For credit purchases, no personal user identification is collected by BirdPay and BirdPay passes tokenized payment information to payment processors encrypted by Apple Pay. For ACH purchases, Plaid.com obtains banking details which are not saved on our servers at all.
Merchants may implement a loyalty program through BirdPay, but the identity of the user and the phone number are not shared with the merchant.
