ALS-App

The ALS app is the leading digital health application for people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). It is used by over 1,000 people with ALS in the EU and UK and offers the following features:

- ASSESSING THE INDIVIDUAL PROGRESSION OF ALS: By answering the ALS functional rating scale, the individual progression of the disease is displayed and the speed of the disease is assessed.

- NfL AS A BIOMARKER OF DISEASE ACTIVITY: The analysis results of the biomarker neurofilament light chain (NfL) are displayed in a diagram and interpreted according to age in the course of the disease.

- MY DISEASE COURSE: The development of ALS can be assessed on the basis of the progression forms and the initial symptoms. The progression forms can be recorded in the app. (Germany only)

- VITAL VALUES: The most important vital values for respiration and nutrition - measured by body mass index, vital capacity of the lungs and peak cough flow - can be documented in the app. (Germany only)

- CHRONICLE OF THE DISEASE COURSE: The disease phases are presented in a chronicle. Suitable support services are presented in the phases of the disease. (Germany only)

- RECOMMENDATIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL CARE: You will receive recommendations for your individual care with special aids and medication, giving you more knowledge and autonomy over your treatment. (Germany only)

- REPORT NEED FOR ASSISTIVE DEVICES: if you need assistive devices you can use the app to inform your ALS pilots of this need. (Germany only)

- REPORT NEED FOR MEDICATION: If you need medication, you can also notify your ALS pilots of this need via the app. (Germany only)

- OVERVIEW OF ASSISTIVE DEVICES SUPPLY: all current and past supplies of assistive devices are displayed. (Germany only)

- SCAN AND UPLOAD FUNCTION: prescriptions and photos of the care situation can be scanned or captured and uploaded to the patient account in the APST portal.

- NEWS: Newsfeed with news on the clinical picture, research, treatment and care of ALS. (Germany only)

- ALS PODCAST: The podcast offers current information on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). (Germany only)

- ALS-PEN: Recording finger strength and finger motor skills using the ALS-Pen (Germany only)

- DIGITAL SPEECH AND MIMIC ANALYSIS: the speech and facial muscles affected by ALS are recorded via the smartphone's camera and microphones and analyzed for changes. (Germany only)

- QUESTIONNAIRE: care and therapies can be evaluated using questionnaires.
