smallTalk Connect: NICU Baby is the companion app for the smallTalk Connect NICU speaker. The connect speaker is available for purchase at our website, and is also in use in some NICU’s. The app makes recording your voice simple and easy. Create recordings, then assemble playlists for transfer and storage on the Connect speaker. The Connect speaker can hold up to three separate playlists. Once on the Connect speaker, your NICU care team can implement using our guidelines for use. We recommend use in stable infants, 28 weeks or older.

Recorded maternal/caregiver voice has been associated with improved feeding, brain development and behavioral development in NICU babies. Infant-directed speech is particularly important to their brain development. Premature infants have improved speech, language and developmental outcomes at 18 months when they are exposed to more infant-directed speech during their NICU stay.
