GoCheck Kids' vision screening application is used to screen for amblyopia risk factors in children from age 12 months to 72 months (for photoscreening) and vision impairment in children from age 4 years to 21 years (for visual acuity tests) as part of periodic visual system assessments by a healthcare professional. This is not a diagnostic tool, rather the vision screening data is used to help determine if a child may require further evaluation by a qualified eye care professional.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends photoscreening from ages 1-5, and visual acuity from age 4, to help detect risk factors for amblyopia, including myopia, hyperopia, and anisometropia (15-20% of children are at risk). Earlier diagnosis improves outcomes. You can conveniently perform these screenings with the GoCheck Kids' device.
