Description

WoSco: Remembering Their Stories

WoSco is a thoughtful and educational app that brings to light the real lives of women and men accused of witchcraft in 16th–18th century Scotland. Featuring richly narrated accounts, carefully researched text, and striking stories from across the country, this app helps you connect with the human side of a dark chapter in Scottish history.

Features:
Learn about individual cases, including Lilias Adie, Janet Wishart, Isobel Gowdie, and others, told with compassion and historical context.
Explore short and long-form stories to suit your interest and time.
Discover regional variations and little-known facts about the Scottish witch trials.
Watch the videos of their stories.
Get directions to visit their towns.

Why this app?
Between 1563 and 1736, thousands of people — mostly women — were accused and executed as witches in Scotland. This app exists to honour their memory, to tell their stories, and to support the ongoing campaign for a legal pardon, public apology, and national memorial.

Created in support of the Witches of Scotland campaign and drawing on Creative Commons-licensed historical research, this app is a small step towards justice and remembrance.

Download now and discover the lives behind the names — not witches, but people.
