Young Explorer Portrush (YEP!)

Description

This exciting educational resource allows primary-aged children to explore, experience and celebrate Portrush like never before! It is made up of 10 adventures which are a mixture of virtual, classroom and field based learning opportunities. All of the adventures are aligned to the Northern Ireland World Around Us (WAU) Curriculum. In order to engage all learners, information is disseminated through audio, visual, written, pictorial and sensory means. This resource offers every local child the opportunity to nurture and develop a connection to their home through exploration of the wonders, natural and man-made, in our wonderful town.

The app is designed to be a student-friendly research tool which allows safe access to information about Portrush.

• Each adventure map will ‘check-in’ to your location, changing the map marker to a green tick.
• On completion of the adventure, you will unlock a Souvenir Selfie allowing you to take a themed photograph of the class as evidence of learning.
• All adventures have an Aerial Adventure, which is drone footage of the entire route. This can be used in the classroom as a pre-tour or to point out specific landmarks etc
• All adventures also have a child friendly video which explores the locations and main points of learning.

This app makes use of GPS to show you places of interest close to your current location. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
