Joseph Bedier, Tristan and Isolde
The plot of this work is borrowed from ancient Celtic sagas. Tristan and Isolde repeatedly became heroes of medieval chivalric romances of the 12th - 13th centuries. Joseph Bedier was a famous French philologist who devoted his life to the study of medieval texts. He translated several legendary tales into modern French, including this book.
The Russian translation was made by A.A. Veselovsky in 1903.
