Parathyroid hormone (PTH) correlates well with histomorphometric and biochemical parameters of bone remodeling, but has limitations for quantifying the variability depending on the method used. Circulating PTH is a peptide mixture, and only the PTH 1-84 is responsible for its activity. The carboxy-terminal fragments have antagonistic action, to be clarified by the kidney, the proportion varies according to the stage of chronic kidney disease. We propose to study possible differences in the proportion depending on the type of dialysis: hemodialysis (HD) or peritoneal dialysis (PD).
