13th Swiss Congress for Special Education: The BRK in Switzerland: Balance and perspectives

On April 15, 2014, Switzerland ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) of December 13, 2006. In doing so, she underscored her will to do everything in her power to promote equal opportunities and prevent any form of discrimination in society. Where are we ten years later? Is it true that everyone talks about the BRK, but no one puts it into practice? How and to what extent has Switzerland fulfilled this obligation? What still needs to be implemented to realize these rights?

At this congress we will take stock and look at future prospects. We focus on four main areas: 1) the perspective of law and its implementation 2) the perspective of education, equal opportunities and distribution of resources 3) the perspective of institutions and their good practices to support the self-determination of those affected, and 4 ) the perspective of those affected and their participation at all levels.
