Benevento Entertainment was born in 1980 as the Festival of theater theme. Designed by Hugh Gregory, who was its first Artistic Director, elaborating the project in cooperation with the City of Benevento. The first edition, which lasts a week, saw the construction of four theatrical events. With its program of plays, music, dance, meetings, conferences and events, Benevento Entertainment has increased its size occupying theaters and architecture of the city in a completely original path, thus linking its proposals to the history of the city . City Entertainment is usually held from the first Friday of September. This year's program consists of two weekends and has, as usual, numerous first national performances that will then be staged in Italian theaters, in addition to unique events such as those of Tell Benevento and Readings Stregate. The first with actors and actresses protagonists of short performances inspired by the history and architecture of the city, the second with actors who meet freely novels finalists Premio Strega.
Stages of City Entertainment this year are the beautiful Roman theater, among the most beautiful of antiquity hosting the opening show presented by the Conservatory of Music of Benevento Nicholas Hall, Teatro De Simone, Mulino Pacific, the Arch of Sacramento, in addition to some beautiful and important architecture that make the City of Benevento a privileged place of entertainment, such as the basement of the old Cathedral, the Hortus Conclusus Convitto Giannone, the Church of Sant'Agostino, Palazzo Paolo fifth. The 36th Festival Benevento Entertainment is organized with the support of the Campania Region and co-funded by the European Union POR Campania, ERDF 2007-2013.
