- Overview and quality: Access the latest news, with items ranked according to journalistic quality with a democratic rating system
- Influence: Rate news items and ensure that focus is diverted away from low quality, while high quality is kept on-screen for everyone
- Setting the course: Lay the foundations for the future direction of media houses and set their course towards higher quality in the media sector through financial rewards (clicks)

What the app needs – your participation as a user

COMPPRESS deliberately does not create any content because it’s all about your opinion!
As a user, there is only one thing the app asks of you:rate, rate and rate again.
Every rating is a vote - your opinion counts; make your voice heard!

What technology we use - our open-source philosophy

The philosophy underlying COMPPRESS is also reflected in the technical setup of the app and the IT structure of the association!
The app’s software is open-source and is released under the GPLv3 license. This allows us to achieve the highest levels of transparency, participation and independence.
- Transparency: anyone can view the source code for the app on GitHub. This allows everyone to independently check our rating algorithms and how we handle data
- Participation: anyone can work on developing the app on GitHub, which promotes innovation
- Independence: by involving the crowd, COMPPRESS frees itself as much as possible from ties to individual stakeholders. The result is the highest possible level of independence, including in terms of our IT.
