The Citizen's Eye is a citizenship movement that emerged in Mozambique in 2012 through a platform of student bloggers at Eduardo Mondlane University, with the primary objective of contributing to increased political participation through the use of technology, giving Voice to the Citizen. and also contributing to Good Governance - Increasing Transparency, Accountability, Accountability in Mozambique.
In order to monitor the Fifth Mozambican General and Legislative Elections held on 15 October 2014, designed by USHAIDI Kenya, the Citizen's Eye in partnership with civil society organizations, namely NMID, Electoral Observatory, Progress, CIP, Cesc, Diakonia and Media Group (Soico Group) with the support of the Canadian High Commission, created an Online Platform called “Txeka-la” which aimed to give Voice to Citizens in Mozambique during the Electoral Process.
For the 2019 general elections, it undertakes to monitor the Sixth General, Legislative and Provincial Elections. In this electoral process, Txeka is part of the Peace Room, a consortium of civil society organizations seeking to work to ensure that the country has fair, free and transparent elections.
