According to the Ramsar convention on wetlands,Wetlands are areas where water is the primary factor controlling the environment and the associated plant and animal life .They occur where the water table is at or near the surface of the land,or where the land is covered by water .Also IUCN and Central Environment Authority describes Wetlands are habitats with permanent or temporary accumulation of water with associated floral and faunal communities.There are different types of wetlands which includes areas of marsh,fen,peat land and shallow water bodies.

The wetland is excessively used by the people in the vicinity for income genaration such as for fishing ,collecting medicines,cattle grazing,and collecting firewood and for the purpose of garbage disposal .Another significant risk to the wetland is land reclamation and recreational activities .Human encroachment is a leading issue above them.Degradation of wetlands has resulted in the reduction of flood detention capacity and increased flood incidents.Flooding has become the most costly disaster in terms of properties and humans throughout the last century.

Wetlands are important in regulating the quality and quantity of water in downstream water resources.Hence,quality deterioration and quantity changes of hydro logically connected water bodies can be expected.Degradation of the quality of wetlands also affects loss of important native flora and fauna species,loss of fish breeding sites and the reduction of aesthetic appearance of the environment

The sustainable management of wetlands requires up to date inventory and regular monitoring Also.the understanding of change dynamics and response of these ecosystems to natural and social pressures provides information and impetus for conservation planning.

The major reason behind the degradation of wetlands is anthropogenic activities.This is mainly causes due to Lack of awareness regarding wetlands.Through there are some university students did some reserchers regarding wetland,there was lack of publicity and awareness regarding wetlands .Also we can't identify any app in SriLanka regarding wetlands.Therefore this app was given a small attempt to aware youth,school students,environment lovers.university students,researchers and otherparties who are seeking on wetlands and its importance.

Therefore we can easily use this app as an e book to people who are interested in wetlands.
