This app works like a navigator or a guide. It gives you 2 to 8 suggestions or instructions per minute.
I created the the open Butoh Machine for my own Butoh training and performances.
The app creates forever changing Tatsumi Hijikata style choreographic instructions using a carefully designed context free algorithmic grammar. Inspired by teachings of Butoh Masters Rhizome Lee, Natsu Nakajima, Yukio Wagury and Itto Morita with the occasional beautiful flower inspired by Atsushi Takenouchi.
The open Butoh Machine is made for Butoh Dancers, but also Performers, Actors, Clowns and Magi can benefit. The exercises will make you move in ways you have never moved before.

HOW TO USE:
You can use the instant choreography generator or choose a specific process in the side menu. Touch play and adjust the speed with the seekBar at the bottom. Let the instructions and suggestions inspire new movements.
open Butoh Machine can run in the background so you can overlay the choreography with a mp3 player or Spotify to have music and instructions at the same time.
This app is designed to be used with the British Male Voice but other voices also work. You can experiment. Go to Settings -> Language & Input -> Text-to-speech output -> Google Text-to-speech Engine.
DEVELOPMENT
The open Butoh Machine is in active development, it is in public beta. By paying for this app you support further research and development.
