Description
The Kaaba is the cubic structure located in the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and is considered the holiest in Islam. In Islam, it is also called Baitullah (House of Allah), "bayt", or "beyt-atik." It is considered the first and holiest place of Islam. Around the Kaaba is Masjid al-Haram. It is stated in the Qur'an that the Kaaba was built by Ibrahim and his son Ismail.
All Muslims in the world, wherever they are, perform their prayers by turning to the Kaaba. The direction of the Kaaba is called the qibla.
It is known that there were many holy places and cubic deity houses (Kaaba) built in the Arabian peninsula before Islam, places considered sacred, and homes of deities were visited by Arabs during the forbidden months, and various worships were performed there.
As in history, some religious groups today oppose the religious practices performed within the framework of the sanctity of the Kaaba and Karataş.
