Description

Diakonie Kork offers outpatient assisted living (ABW) to people with epilepsy, physical disabilities, mental disabilities and/or mental illness. This offer enables people to live in their own apartment or shared flat with the support of Diakonie employees. Each client is assigned an assistant who, due to their impairment, supports them in various everyday situations, such as weekly shopping. As a rule, such assistance takes place on fixed dates. From time to time, however, clients spontaneously need support. However, because an assistant looks after several clients, it is not always possible for them to provide help with short-term concerns.

Local Messenger aims to offer a solution to this problem. The application allows clients to create and send a request with information about their request if required. This request then reaches the responsible assistant. He accepts the request if he has time to deal with it or forwards it to his colleagues if he already has an appointment. To clarify how the application works, a possible use case is described in more detail below using a scenario:
A client wants to bake a cake for his birthday, for which he needs milk. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any milk at home. The weekly shop with his assistant was just two days ago, which means that the next shop is five days from now.
With Local Messenger, this situation is no longer a problem. The client sends a request to buy milk. His assistant forwards it, but another assistant is in the supermarket when the notification for this request appears on his smartphone display. He takes a bag of milk for the client. Later in the day, the assistant has an appointment near the client and hurries to drop off the milk on the way. So nothing stands in the way of cake baking.
