This app supports the FernUni certificate course. The first chapter is freely available for previewing. To access the full content, you must book through the CeW (CeW) of the FernUniversität in Hagen.

The course offers a thorough introduction and places particular emphasis on practical relevance and applicability. It is ideal for anyone who wants to lay a solid foundation for getting started in modern web development. Basic programming knowledge is advantageous but not required.

To get started, you'll learn the necessary tools and set up your development environment. Step by step, you'll discover the basics of JavaScript, including modern language features that make the language particularly flexible and efficient. You'll then learn how server-side applications are structured, how the underlying event loop model works, and how to work with modules and asynchronous processes. These topics are among the core concepts of the platform. Using practical examples, you'll develop your own web servers, initially using the built-in functions, and later also using a framework and a template engine for dynamic content.

The written exam can be taken online or at a FernUniversität Hagen campus of your choice. Upon passing the exam, you will receive a university certificate. Students can also have earned ECTS credits certified for a Certificate of Basic Studies.
