The United States is currently facing a maternal health crisis. Maternal mortality in the US is four times worse than in any other developed nation. And each year, as many as 60,000 women are affected by severe life-threatening complications. For certain women, the risk is much higher.
Native American and Black mothers are two to three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications. And women who live in rural America — where there are many maternal care deserts — are about 60 percent more likely to die.

While 4 out of 5 of these deaths are preventable by ensuring timely intervention, unfortunately the problem further compounds due to the lack of a comprehensive solution. On the one hand, Mothers struggle to coordinate their own care through pregnancy apps, family & friends, Google, paper records, patient portals, and more On the other hand, the care teams are getting burnt out having to use a multitude of tools as they build and fly the care they deliver in the face of staff shortages.
