Description

Motor Vehicles Tax Inquiry (MTV Inquiry) application allows you to calculate taxes according to the year 2022.

Note: With the Presidential Decision dated 9 December 2021 and numbered 31684, the MTV amounts for 2021 were increased by 25% and the MTV amounts for 2022 were calculated.

*The first registration date of the vehicle is the date the vehicle was first purchased.
*If there is a seat at the back of the vehicle, which is defined as a pickup truck in the license, the vehicle type should be selected as "panel van". For example, a pickup truck with 5 seats is included as a panel van in the MTV calculation.

What is Motor Vehicles Tax (MTV)?
Motor Vehicles Tax (MTV) is a vehicle tax whose amounts are determined by the Revenue Administration (RA) every year (in the absence of a bank decision) according to the emission rate of motor land vehicles, the age of the vehicle and the number of seats.

How to Calculate MTV?
The motor vehicle tax calculation or the abbreviation MTV calculation is based on the engine cylinder volume for automobiles, the age of the vehicle and the first registration date of the vehicle. In automobiles, the engine cylinder volume is the most important factor in increasing the MTV amount, and as the engine cylinder volume increases, the MTV amount to be paid also increases. On the other hand, the MTV amount decreases as the age of the vehicle increases.

Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) Payment
Motor Vehicles Tax (MTV) payment is made in two equal installments each year. The first installment must be paid by the end of January and the second installment must be paid by the end of July.
As of January 1, those who wish can make MTV's two installments at the same time. In case these dates are passed, daily delay interest is applied. In addition, if the payment is not made at the end of the legally recognized periods, e-lien process is initiated as it is a public receivable.

How to Pay a Discounted Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV)?
In order to pay the Motor Vehicle Tax of your vehicle with a discount, the MTV amount must be more than 5% of the insurance value published by the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey. If it is more than 5% of the motor insurance value, the MTV amount is paid according to the tax of a lower level vehicle in the same age group. If the MTV amount is less than 5% of the motor insurance value, there will be no change.

Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) Debt Inquiry
Motor Vehicles Tax debt inquiry is made on the website of the Revenue Administration (GİB) with the license plate and TR identification number of the vehicle. In addition, MTV debt inquiry and debt payments are made only with the license plate through the internet banking of most banks.

2022 Motor Vehicles Tax (MTV) Increase Rate
The revaluation rate for 2022 was determined as 36.20%, but the MTV hike rate was not applied from this figure. 2022 MTV hike reduced to 25%. As a result, MTV amounts for 2021 were increased by 25% and 2022 MTV amounts were determined. For example, a vehicle with an MTV of 1,000 TL in 2021 has an MTV of 1,250 TL in 2022.

Is There a 100cc Engine Tax?
No, engines between 0-100 cc are not taxed.

Transferring the Motor Vehicle Tax to the Wrong Plate
MTV paid to the wrong license plate can be refunded. If the wrong payment was made via a credit card or a direct bank account, the refund can generally be made directly at the bank's branch. If the refund cannot be made through the bank branch, or if the wrong payment is made directly to the tax office, a refund request can be made by submitting a return / deduction petition to the tax office to which the vehicle is affiliated. The tax office to which the vehicle is affiliated varies according to the license plate province code and the county where it is issued.
