Description

The APS was created on December 1, 1961 in Tunis during the National Liberation War to be the flag-bearer of the Algerian Revolution on the world media scene.

At the independence of the country, its headquarters was naturally transferred to Algiers. Erected, on April 20, 1991, in EPIC (public company of economic and commercial character), the APS carries out its mission of public service by developing the production of general and specialized information of political, economic, cultural and social character especially to make know the facts, actions and achievements of Algeria.

As such, the agency collects, processes and disseminates, both in Algeria and abroad, any fact, news, commentary and written, photographic or audiovisual documentation constituting the basis of objective information in compliance with the ethical rules and the public service mission requirements.

The APS has a staff of nearly 460 employees including nearly 300 journalists, photographers, audiovisual technicians and translators. The agency reporters cover local, national and international news to make the collected information available to its large clientele (print media, audiovisual press, electronic journals and websites.

Its national network relies on four regional directorates (DR) which have their own team of journalists, photographers and audiovisual technicians, responsible for covering the national news through the different wilayas of the country.
