Description

Armeville is a mobile audio-documentary that probes the industrial memory of Saint-Etienne, the city "of the weapon, the cycle and ribbon" recognized for the expertise of its engineers, its workers and artisans. Archives, testimonies and unpublished creations, Armeville listens wandering along two routes in St Etienne streets. Gunsmiths workshops for workers' demonstrations, the Manufacture Royale d'Armes Giat Industries, hear the history of the manufacture of weapons told by those who lived it. Dive into the world of machine tools and relive the days when the town was buzzing with the sound of arms shipments and shots fired on the test benches ...

Choose from two routes: the Quartier des Gunsmiths and Manufrance or History of the Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne. The courses can also discover remotely without using geolocation.

• Armeville is selected under the call for projects Digital Arts and Public Space in Saint-Etienne, coordinated by Culture & Cooperation. A project co-financed by the Rhône-Alpes Region and the Ministry of Culture and Communication in partnership with Saint-Étienne Métropole, the city of Saint-Etienne, the Museum of Art and Industry, Carton Plein and The Wire, current music scene.
