Description

This app offers all the necessary information in the palm of your hand to visit the Asturian town of Ribadesella.

Experiences:

Points of Interest: Ribadesella is a place where the sea and the mountains, the aroma of the Cantabrian Sea and the Sella River, history and tradition, and a rich gastronomy blend with the essence of Asturias. From the Ermita de Guía, you can admire its urban charm, with historic walks and the spectacular Santa Marina beach, lined with elegant Indian mansions. Its ancient past is revived in the dinosaur footprints and cave paintings of the Tito Bustillo Cave, a World Heritage Site. Its rural surroundings are highlighted by traditional architecture, cliffs, wild coves, and the impressive "bufones" (bubbles), which make nature reverberate with their unique sound. Ribadesella is, in essence, a natural and cultural paradise in Asturias.

Historic Center: In addition to its landscape, Ribadesella has beautiful buildings in its old part, although none of the buildings from the century in which the town was founded remain in the town center, as the old ones were demolished to build new houses, while respecting the medieval layout.
Ribadesella's old town has a shape similar to number 7. Its "long pole" was a street that followed the edge of the hill next to the estuary, and until the 19th century, it only had houses on one side, resembling a kind of pier. The "short pole" began at La Atalaya. Today, this route can begin in the Portiellu neighborhood, the former entrance to the town, and end at the Paseo de la Grúa and the Ermita de Guía. On the beach, there are excellent examples of modernist or regional mansions, built at the beginning of the 20th century by the summer colony, which attest to Ribadesella's pioneering role in tourism in northern Spain.

Routes: The selected routes are not particularly difficult and are accessible to anyone, regardless of their physical condition. The weather and the changing seasons are factors to consider, as the trails constantly change depending on the season.

Rural Area: The rural area of the municipality of Ribadesella is a true natural and cultural treasure. Small villages with traditional architecture, stately homes, and green meadows intertwine with paths that lead to cliffs, hidden coves, and spectacular views of the Cantabrian Sea. Life here unfolds between the tranquility of the countryside and the proximity of the sea, where the sound of the "bufones" gives voice to nature. Furthermore, the ethnographic richness and local customs are still very much alive, offering visitors an authentic experience in the heart of Asturias. An ideal place to unwind and discover the rural soul of Ribadesella.

Family Treasure Hunt: a fun and entertaining way for the whole family to explore, discover, and get to know Ribadesella with a very special guide, our magical "knight."
