What is Hydroponic Green Forage (FVH)?
The FVH is a fresh grass and represents an excellent nutritional alternative with a high protein content between 18 and 23% in addition to vitamins and minerals, obtained from sprouted cereals from fodder corn, wheat, oats, barley, and in general , almost all grasses. These cereals are sown under special conditions, which will be harvested in a record time of 10 days, that is, from the tenth day they can be harvested daily from 300 Kg, 600 kg and even more.
It is an ideal forage to be supplied to lambs, pigs, goats, calves, milking cows, fattening cattle, horses, rabbits, chickens, laying hens, ducks, guinea pigs, turkeys, etc.
The production of Hydroponic Green Forage in confined spaces has become an alternative of animal nutrition that has allowed it to face different problems such as; long droughts, floods, shortage of pastures, little amount of land and especially to the high costs of purchasing concentrated food.
Cost-benefit
The production cost of a 1 kg of hydroponic forage is COP $ 200 pesos Colombian currency and 2 kg of hydroponic forage is equivalent to one 1 kg of concentrated (commercial) feed.
