Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare and National Health Mission, Uttar Pradesh has been working towards reducing the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) and Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR). Improving the Quality of Care in Labour Rooms provides triple return of investments in the form of MMR, NMR and SBR reduction. Therefore, operationalization of FRUs and ensuring quality of care is a key area of focus. In order to monitor the performance of the FRUs, particularly the Quality of Care, DMHFW and NHM UP have established the FRU Online MIS.

FRU Management Information System (FRU-MIS) is a comprehensive web and mobile based application to capture key service delivery parameters for pregnant women and newborns during stay in Labour room from admission to discharge or referral. FRU-MIS will capture the data available in the Labour Room Delivery Register and Referral-Out Register on an ongoing basis and provide analysis which can be used at various levels for decision making.
