Description

For over 20yrs and over 2000 gallons of fuel I have explored Lake of the Woods, from old maps and history books. Some of these spots took me 3 attempts over 3yrs to find. Most come to the lake for the excellent fishing, but my theory is more families would visit if you could combine fishing with some historical points of interest. A few summers ago a fishing guide asked me to join them on a trip to Kenora. We stopped at several fishing spots on the way. One spot was a bay, after fishing 30min, I asked if they ever been to the gold mine in this bay. Their reply was, “what gold mine?” Many are missing out on a bigger experience. Another gold mine is like a scene out of a Indiana Jones movie, Ophir mine.

The Android app I created works on Android devices. I would like to add more spots each year. This release has over 110 of my favorite places: gold mines, POW camps, waterfalls, portage’s, major resorts in remote spots of the lake, pictographs, petroglyphs, plus others points of interest, like Fort Saint Charles or the old boundary markers from surveyor David Thompson, along with a few hiking trails and I included my favorite fishing spots too.

The app has easy to use functionally, you can search points by closest or title. Each spot has a picture, GPS coordinates, and a brief description of the location. You can also see the location on a map. Once you decide which place to visit add the GPS coordinates into your boats navigation system/fish
finder and your on your way. Have fun and be safe.
