NoiseCap is an app that allows the user to manage the noise level in the room using the device's microphone.
NOTE: NoiseCap is not a decibel meter. If you are looking for an app to measure actual sound levels in decibels, please search for decibel meters or sound meters in the app store.
What devices features does NoiseCap use?
NoiseCap uses the following device features:
* Device microphone to record audio.
* Save audio clips on device filesystem.
* Playback audio clips upon user request
* Show device notifications when NoiseCap is in use.
NoiseCap is free of ads.
How does NoiseCap work?
NoiseCap uses the device microphone to continuously listen to the noise level in the room.
To use NoiseCap, the user specifies a maximum noise level that is allowed. By comparing the noise level as measured through the device microphone with the maximum noise level, NoiseCap calculates a "score" that ranges between 0% and 100%.
A score of 100% implies that the noise level in the room never exceeded the maximum noise level set by the user. A score less than 100% implies that there were times where the noise level exceeded the user-specified limit.
Finally, the app also saves the top 5 loudest sounds that were recorded when the app was in operation. This is useful to identify individuals or particular situations that may have caused the noise level to exceed the limit.
Applications
NoiseCap can be used in a wide variety of settings:
* Noisy kids at home: If you have kids who can't keep the noise levels down in the house and you want some peace and quiet, look no further! Use NoiseCap to keep their noise level below a certain limit and reward them if their score is above a certain number (say 90%)
* Classroom peace and quiet: If you are a teacher and want the class to observe some "quiet" time, use NoiseCap to set a target noise level.
* Noisy co-workers: If you work in a cubicle farm and you have co-workers who can't keep their voices down, use NoiseCap to police the noise levels in your area.
