The basics of professional medical English language—for future students and everyone!

The first part of the app – HCL A&P – is dedicated to the first, foundational section of the entire medical (or health care) vocabulary – Anatomy and Physiology (A&P).

This is a comprehensive set of A&P vocabulary (words, or terms) required from Nursing Assistant students at colleges, that is, the complete list – of more than 1000 A&P words – at the initial professional level, and even more (up to 10 %) - to cover the newer curriculums (programs/courses of study)!

Also, this vocabulary covers up to about 55-65% of the educational professional A&P vocabulary required for the first Nursing occupation (that provides basic nursing care) – Licenced Professional Nurse (LPN).

The English level required for doing this application is not very high – about 4-5 as according to IELTS levelling (grading) system, and, maybe even less; so, you can do it at the same time as you learn the general (“everyday”) English.

The conventional approach to structuring A&P vocabulary—presenting all terms in the form of anatomical systems of organs—is uniquely combined with a pedagogical method that organizes these terms into a semantic, or logical, chain: the definition of each word cannot include any of the subsequent terms, but is based solely on the terms introduced earlier.

This unique approach offers three key benefits for the user:

it aligns with how A&P vocabulary is most commonly taught in medical colleges or universities, guiding learners along the expected path;
it ensures consistent, consecutive, and focused progress in learning the vocabulary, allowing the user to concentrate fully on each step;
it enables the material to be structured into blocks, introducing a game element where each new topic is unlocked only after successful completion of the previous one, making the learning process more engaging and motivating.

This app is not meant to completely learn the A&P vocabulary, as this will happen, we believe, during the A&P study at the educational institution, but this app outlines the basic vocabulary and helps you get acquainted with it or revise it very well – to make your future learning effort much less stressful, and give you some extra time for yourself and your family!

Though primarily meant for nursing care students, this is a very good and comprehensive, complete and consistent, set of A&P vocabulary, so it can be used by anyone whose occupation demands it or makes its knowledge an asset! Either you want to comprehend or speak English at an advanced level; or you care very much about your or your family's health, and want to speak to your therapists in their language and/or easily understand them; or you are a developer or s/w tester, and you are developing or testing a medical software; etc.
