The GEOficha has been designed within the framework of the Reservoirs II project, implemented by the German Cooperation between the Federal Institute of Geosciences and Natural Resources BGR of Germany and the Central American Integration System SICA. The application was developed specifically for Android devices with the purpose of facilitating the creation and updating of geothermal inventories with local governments in the SICA region, providing information for community/local development. Its main function lies in automating the process of collecting primary field data and providing information on geothermal applications based on the temperature measured in a specific manifestation.
**How can I use GEOficha?**
Apart from the basic information and the option to upload institutional logos, GEOficha provides a field for a brief description of the place, including photos.
Relevant data is recorded in “mandatory” and “optional” fields. The coordinates of the point of interest are automatically generated through the device system using WGS 84 in Degrees (Lat(Long). If there is no connection, the field is left blank to give the possibility of adding the coordinates manually after creating the point. report.
The temperature field is a mandatory field, due to the need for the data to be able to generate the Lindal graph. The availability of a thermometer suitable for measuring geothermal manifestations that measures temperatures up to at least 100 °C is necessary.
The conductivity and Ph fields are optional technical fields, these parameters being relevant for considerations regarding potential use. However, measuring instruments are required that are not always easy to obtain and therefore remain optional.
What information does GEOficha provide and how can I interpret the results?
GEOficha offers a collection of key data for a first geothermal recognition in a standardized way, with individualization options for institutional use with logos.
The application takes advantage of telecommunications technology on Android devices to generate locations (coordinates).
GEOficha offers the recording of key field data for geothermal recognition, such as temperature and additional data such as conductivity and pH, which, apart from temperature, are relevant parameters for considerations about the potential use of a specific geothermal resource.
Once the fields are completed, GEOficha creates the visualization table of possible energy applications based on temperature (Lindal Diagram).
Through the information entered, GEOficha generates a report in PDF format for documentation and subsequent use.
GEOficha was developed in 2024 with the support of the Reservoir Project II implemented by the Federal Institute for Geoscience and Natural Resources (BGR) within the framework of German Cooperation, commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany.
