Allama Iqbal was a Muslim poet and philosopher who was born in Sialkot. Allama Iqbal became the national poet of Pakistan. Allama Iqbal is regarded as the Shair-e-Mashriq ( شاعر مشرق‬‎, "Poet of the East"). Allama Iqbal wrote poetry in Urdu, Persian (Farsi ), Hindi. Dr Allama Iqbal published his first collection of poetry, the Asrar-e-Khudi (Secrets of the Self) in Persian. In Asrar-e-Khudi, Iqbal explains his philosophy of "Khudi," or "Self."
In his Rumuz-e-Bekhudi (Hints of Selflessness), Allama Iqbal seeks to prove the Islamic way of life is the best code of conduct for a nation's viability. Iqbal's 1924 publication, the Payam-e-Mashriq (The Message of the East) is closely connected to the West-östlicher Diwan by the German poet Goethe. Allama Iqbal urdu Bang-e-Dara (The Call of the Marching Bell), his first collection of Urdu poetry, was published in 1924.

Published in 1935, the Bal-e-Jibril (Wings of Gabriel) is considered by many critics as finest Urdu poetry of allama iqbal. it consists of ghazals, poems, quatrains, epigrams and carries a strong sense of religious passion
