Description

Hear my prayer, O God, do not ignore my prayer;
listen to me and answer me! My thoughts trouble me, and I'm stunned
at the noise of the enemy, at the clamor of the wicked; for they add to my suffering, and in wrath they show their rancor.
My heart is racing; the terrors of death assail me.
Fear and trembling overtake me; fear took over me.
Then I said, I wish I had wings like a dove; would fly until it found rest!
Yes, I would flee far away, and in the desert I would have my shelter.
I would hasten to find refuge from the gale and the storm.
Destroy the wicked, O LORD, confound their language, for I see violence and strife in the city.
Day and night they prowl its walls; in it pervade crime and wickedness.
Destruction reigns in the city; oppression and fraud never leave its streets.
If an enemy insulted me, I could bear it; if an adversary rose up against me, I could defend myself;
but soon you, my colleague, my companion, my close friend,
you, with whom I shared pleasant fellowship as we went with the festive crowd to the house of God!
May death take my enemies by surprise! Let them go down alive to the grave, for evil finds a lair among them.
But I cry to God, and the Lord will save me.
Evening, morning and noon I cry in anguish, and he hears my voice.
He keeps me unharmed in battle, when many are against me.
God, who reigns from eternity, will hear me and punish them. For they never change their ways and have no fear of God.
That man turned against his allies, violating their agreement.
Soft as butter is his speech, but war is in his heart; his words are softer than oil, but sharp as daggers.
Commit your cares to the Lord, and he will sustain you; will never allow the righteous to fall.
But thou, O God, wilt bring down to the pit of destruction those murderers and traitors, who shall not live half their days. But as for me, I trust you.
