Description

The Minas Gerais regional office was installed on 04/11/1953, with the presence of Prof. Mário Degni, representing the entity's national board and Belo Horizonte was chosen for the First Brazilian Congress of Angiology, held in July 1953, with Dr. Walter Monteiro Boechat being the entity's first president.

Minas Gerais is proud to be inserted in the very history of the Brazilian Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery (SBACV).
Belo Horizonte was the scenario chosen for the First Brazilian Congress of Angiology, in July 1953 and three months before - 11/04/1953 - here was installed the first Regional Society, with the presence of Professor. Mário Degni, representing the national board of the entity.
The solemn founding session, held in the conference room of the Medical Association of Minas Gerais, was chaired by Caio Libano de Noronha Soares, President of the Minas Gerais federation.

It was up to Prof. Mario Degni handing Dr.Walter Monteiro Boechat the 1st title. Effective partner of SBACV-MG, delegating the position of coordinator of the Minas Gerais Regional. Then, the Regional Board of Directors was elected and elected:
President - Walter Monteiro Boechat - 25 votes
Secretary - Rivadavia Herbster de Gusmão - 29 votes
Treasurer - Wellerson Lourenço de Lima - 33 votes

Considered valid the election, Prof. Mario Degni has sworn in the newly elected board of directors. The following colleagues signed the founding minutes: Rivadavia Herbster de Gusmão, Liberato João Affonso Di Dio, Braz Filizzola Filho, Luiz Andrés Ribeiro, Mahrdas Salvador Nankran, Bayard Gontijo, Blair Ferreira, Wellerson Lourenco de Lima , Vicente Soares, Sylvio Gonçalves Coutinho, Antonio Avelino Pinheiro, Petronio Monteiro Boechat, Adilio Jorge, Milton Freitas, Fabio Fonseca e Silva, Jose Bolivar Drummond, Octaviano Lapertosa Brina, Rubens Guimarães Pereira, Dario Tavares, Cylio Oliveira, Arlindo Polizzi, Salvio Nunes, Sylvio Miraglia, Luiz Adelmo Lodi, Romeo Pereira de Rezende, Eustáchio Peixoto Filho, Haroldo S. Pereira, Carlos Alberto Manso Ribeiro, Paulo Adelmo Lodi Matta Machado, Javert Barros, Odilon Vasconcelos, Rivadavia VM de Gusmão and Walter Monteiro Boechat.

In 1961, Belo Horizonte hosted the VIII Brazilian Congress of Angiology, of special significance for the history of our society. For the first time the congress was held in isolation, dissociated from the Brazilian Congress of Cardiology, as it had been happening. The XV Brazilian Congress of Angiology had the capital of Minas Gerais again as its headquarters, held from September 27 to October 1, 1968 at the UFMG School of Medicine.

In 1977, at the SBACV Silver Jubilee, the XXII Brazilian Congress of Angiology and the II International Course of Angiology were held at AMMG headquarters, from September 5 to 10.

The capital of Minas Gerais was again chosen as the headquarters, from July 7 to 9, 1983, when the XXV Brazilian Congress of Angiology was transferred from São Paulo to Minas Gerais.

On October 11, 1991, after the election of the new board of directors, it was decided to hold the First Mining Meeting of Angiology and Vascular Surgery that was held together with the IX Day of the Brazilian College of Surgeons on November 19-21, 1992, at AMMG.

The II Mining Meeting was held in 1993 in the city of Barbacena. In April 1995, the First SBACV Phlebology Symposium was held, in conjunction with the III Minas Gerais Meeting of Angiology and Vascular Surgery in Belo Horizonte. The IV Meeting was held in the city of Sete Lagoas, the V Mining Meeting was held in Varginha, the VI Meeting in the city of Uberaba and our VII Mining Meeting was held in Montes Claros.
