Description
Clubnetz AR is an augmented reality app based on Clubnetz(1994). The app was created for the Transmediale 2020 exhibition.
Clubnetz - an early internet project and temporary chat project of the art and techno scene, the new Berlin that was forming around 1994, moved to legendary Berlin clubs / bars such as Frisör, Electro, WMF, Bunker, E-Werk and Boogaloo with the hardware of its internet terminals to connect visitors with each other and with the Internet. Information is overlaying our entire world wirelessly and unbound.
Clubnetz is now moving into the central exhibition hall of the HKW in Berlin as a permanent AR sculpture.
In Clubnetz AR, historical and current chats overlap as a space-filling, converging and ultimately barely legible condensed set of words - a counterpart to the temporality of Clubnetz Performance 2020.
The app designed specifically to be used in the main exhibition hall of Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, thus only works on-site.
