Crafts as an integral part of education as a whole, aims to develop and facilitate intellectual, aesthetic, critical thinking, independence and creativity experiences for students by carrying out appreciation and creation activities for various craft and technology products. Craft learning develops several aspects, including Crafts, Engineering, Cultivation and Processing.

In accordance with its definition, crafts are creative efforts to acquire life skills skills deftly, quickly and precisely through learning crafts, engineering, cultivation and processing using various relevant materials, tools, techniques and technology obtained through experience and training.

Education as a process of human development that lasts a lifetime, crafts are taught in schools as part of the learning process to face the challenges of internal and external problems which require integration of (1) understanding the values ​​of tradition and local wisdom as well as appropriate technology; (2) adoption of a production system with basic technology; and (3) base training insights on entrepreneurship. The basic skills that are the foundation for developing these abilities are engineering, processing, cultivation and craft.

In general, the craft lesson constellation is expected to pay attention to (1) cultural education. Hand skills, Pancasila Student Profile character, entrepreneurial values ​​must be developed comprehensively as an acculturation process. Therefore, institutional education and culture need to be fully accommodated. (2) Cultural education, manual skills, Pancasila Student Profile character, and entrepreneurial values ​​are a shared responsibility between the government, community, schools and parents. (3) Efforts to revitalize education and culture require a national movement to inspire a spirit of togetherness in implementation in the field that is planned systematically in order to achieve national education goals.

The author's hope is that this book can make a significant contribution to the development of education, especially craft subjects in senior high schools/Madrasah Aliyah (SMA/MA) Class X.
