Angelina Jolie Voight is an American actress, filmmaker and humanitarian activist. She made her film debut alongside her father, Jon Voight, in Lookin' to Get Out (1982); however, her career began in earnest a decade later, when she starred in the low-budget film Cyborg 2 (1993), followed by her first leading role in a major production in Hackers (1995). She was subsequently cast to star in the biographical telefilms George Wallace (1997), for which she won her first Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television and received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film, and Gia (1998), winning the Golden Globe again, only this time in the category of Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film. In 1999, she received praise from critics for her portrayal of Lisa Rowe in the film Girl, Interrupted, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
