Andrea Pirlo is an Italian football coach and former player who played as a defensive
midfielder. He currently runs Sampdoria. Widely considered one of the greatest midfielders
in the history of Italian football, Pirlo was one of the main names of the Italian national team
that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. in Serie A. In addition, he is also in the select group of
eleven players who played for the three main clubs in his country: at Internazionale, where
he was poorly used in advanced positions, at Milan, where he formed a spectacular
partnership with Gennaro Gattuso, and at Juventus, where he became a midfielder
responsible for great launches and for the Turin team's frame.
