NivoTest

Description

The NivoTest is a tool for freeriders and skiers-mountaineers wishing to best estimate the avalanche risk for a given route.

The NivoTest contains various questions on the main factors and indicators of avalanche risk: current snow and weather conditions, the topography of the site and the characteristics of the group. The answers given to these questions determine a "score" that reflects a level of risk expressed by means of pictograms (smileys). This provides a rational decision element, which can be combined with the regional forecast indicated by the avalanche bulletin, to make the most appropriate decision. The advantage of this tool lies in the fact that it is based on the statistical analysis of a very large number of real situations.

The NivoTest includes a brief note, recalls the general advice of caution and indicates various sources of useful information. The latest innovation meets the demands of the most demanding users: a contextual help helps to answer each of the questions, which facilitates the use of the application. For curious minds, a book entitled "Know and Use the NivoTest", published by Le Vent des Cimes, is available in bookstores.

Note: once downloaded, the application does not require an Internet connection and is therefore usable in the most remote mountainous regions.
